Join the Labor Contingent!Sisters and Brothers: The Republican National Convention will take place in St. Paul, MN beginning on Labor Day, 2008. Choosing to begin on Labor Day is an insult to all working people who have been suffering under Republican policies. We need to join the thousands that will be out in the street. As the economy is falling apart Washington continues to fund the war and bailout corporations rather than helping working people who are losing jobs to outsourcing and their houses to predatory lenders. Twin Cities unions are organizing a labor contingent for the September 1 march. Tens of thousands will gather in St. Paul to oppose the war in Iraq and the Republican agenda. Trade unionists and organizers of working people need to be side by side with anti-war organizers and environmental activists. Billions of our tax dollars are being spent to feed the war machine while the Republican agenda attacks immigrant workers and the right to organize at every turn. Make plans now to come to the protest on Labor Day 2008 in St. Paul MN with your co-workers, friends and families.

With that in mind, we have worked for common ground with other forces to ensure that our various projects work in concert, with a commitment to ensure no one's plans are disrupted or undermined by fellow protesters. Our coalition agrees to the following principles for the September 1, 2008, March on the RNC. (1) our solidarity will be based on respect for diversity of tactics and the plans of other groups. (2) the actions and tactics used will be organized to maintain a separation of time or space. (3) any debates or criticisms will stay internal to the movement, avoiding any public or media denunciations of fellow activists and events. (4) we oppose any state repression of dissent, including surveillance, infiltration, disruption and violence. We agree not to assist law enforcement actions against activists and others. User login |
